Sex Therapy

You will feel most yourself when your sexual identity and sexual experience are fully aligned with who you truly are. Imagine letting go of shame and taking a sex-positive approach to life.

Throughout history, many cultures and organizations have tried to promote a “one-size-fits-all” approach to sex, or prescribe how sex “should be done”—but this doesn’t work. Human sexuality is diverse, fluid, and complex. Elevate Psychology celebrates a multifaceted approach to human sexuality, including orientation and lifestyle.

How Sex Therapy Can Help

Sexuality is meant to be beautiful, joyful, and free. A certified sex therapist can help you resolve sexual challenges and find wholeness. Some common issues we work with are:

  • Sexual trauma, guilt, or shame
  • Kink, BDSM, and fetishes
  • Sex addiction
  • Sexual identity (LGBTQIA+ or nonbinary identity)
  • Polyamory and non-monogamous relationships
  • Mismatched desire for sex between partners
  • Pain during sex
  • Erectile disorders
  • Loss of sexual desire or passion
  • Difficulties in sexual communication

Our unique processes

Therapists at Elevate Psychology are here to help you follow our three-step process to healing.

01

EXPLORE.

Begin to recognize the dysregulation within your body. Instead of criticizing or placing expectations on yourself, instead simply observe your responses. Look at what’s really going on, activating your five senses to recognize your thought processes.

02

EVOLVE.

Second, make core changes that work with your body and your mind, not against them. We will help you implement goals and patterns of thinking that help you want to change the way you think, leading to changes in your life.

03

ENRICH.

It may be hard to understand what living a completely different life could feel like. We’re here to help you make adjustments and integrate your new way of thinking into your life.

Your Sexual Identity

Whether you identify as LGBTQIA+, straight, or experience sexual fluidity, your sexual identity is part of who you are. It is part of how you see the world, but it can also be a part of how the world sees or categorizes you. Many of our clients express uncertainty about how to express their sexuality appropriately. When you are able to talk about your sexual orientation or lifestyle honestly, set boundaries where necessary, and be confident, you will feel a significant sense of freedom and control over your own life.

Not only is it important to find others who accept you, it’s important to accept yourself. We will help you work through any trauma, guilt, or shame related to your sexuality. As you come to understand your sexual identity and who you are, you will understand yourself and find ways to experience and enjoy your desires.

Your Sexual Relationships

Sexual relationships are as diverse as sexual identity. We specialize in working with many different types of relationships, including monogamy, polyamory, kink/BDSM, and more. Whatever your relationship configuration, our therapists can help you and your partner(s) work through sexual issues, express your desires, and fulfill each other.

Learning to communicate your sexual desires in an honest, open, and respectful way, and listen to the desires of your partner(s) will open up a whole new world of sexual expression. Sexuality is more than just sex—it includes emotions, core needs, and bonding.
